Susan B. Anthony was born in 1820 in a town in Massachusetts. She was always known as someone who dared to question those above her. She was very spirited and had the drive of five girls her age put together. As Susan grew up she began to wonder about her invisibilty in society, and her curiosity lead her to take a stand. She is known in history as one of the women involved in the women's right movement's, helping to create more equal opportunities for women all around the country. The movements involved conventions and clubs of women fighting for a voice.

As Susan grew older, her aspirations to relieve america's women of having to conceal thier opinions started to become a reality. She became a politician so that she could go for her goal head on. Throughout her life, Susan accomplished more than most people could do in three lifetimes. She, along with the help of Cady Stanton, organized and established the National Woman's Suffrage Association in 1869. The main objection of this association was to secure women the right to vote legally. Also she published a book as well as a paper. Her book,"The History of Woman Suffrage", entailed a wonderful walk through the hardships women have had all through out history. The paper,"The Revolution", talked about the women's suffarage movement and was sent out weekly. The paper had a motto that said,"Men their rights and nothing more, women their rights and nothing less", meaning that once women had their rights, all would be equal and fair and balanced. As if she hadn't done enough, Susan founded the International Council of Women, which was a group of women dedicated to getting the issue the attention of Americans. She continued to reach out to the women, even as she got older, when she helped found, and was president of, the National American Woman's Suffrage Association, which concentrated on the national amendmant to garantee women voting rights.

As a result of her stubborness, she was arrested for voting on November 5th, 1872. Not only was she arrested but she was also put on trial and fined. She was the first person ever to be arrested for voting. She was charged with "knowingly casting an illegal vote in a federal election". In the future, she had hoped to use this case to secure the supreme court a ruling that bona fide the 14th amendment that gave wome the "privilage" to vote.

Susan B. Anthony had an ever lasting effect on this wonderful country we call home. Not only did she work towards her goals, but she accomplished them to. All her life she worked towards changing the constitution and she did. Unfortunately it wasn't until 1920, 14 years after her death, that the change actually happened. Even though she wrote the Susan b. Anthony amendment in 1878, it took 42 years for the long awaited change. The amendment gives women the right to vote and express thier opinions without having to worry about being ignored. Women will forever be thankful of her daring persuit for giving them a voice, a say, an opinion that matters.

Susan B Anthony is a wonderful and successful to our society. If she never wrote this amendment, women today wouldnt have the same rights they do today. Almost all women thank her for fighting for what she belived in. She died in 1906, but the bad thing is, is that it took about 14 years to get her word out. I look up to Susan B Anthony alot. If she never did what she has done for us are nation would not at all be how it is today.
